Helpful Tips:
These tips are to help identify and resolve a simple fix. Please note any repairs outside of these tips should be handled by a licensed electrician. Not all breakers are the same, and they are not all compatible with each other. So please do not repair or modify them yourself.
Circuit Breakers
- Start by locating your electrical panel.
- Check if there is a panel schedule identifying the circuit...bedroom lights, bedroom receptacles, microwave, etc. (if you are missing a panel schedule and would like your circuits traced out give us a call)
- Visually scan your breakers to see if one has been tripped. This part can be tricky so pay close attention to the location of the handle on the breaker. It may appear in the on position but if the handle is slightly out of line from the others you will need to manually reset the breaker by moving the handle to the off position first. Once the breaker is in the off position you may now relocate it to the on position. If you fail to position the handle to the off position first, the breaker will not reset and will not be re-energized.
- If the breaker does not remain on contact your local electrician for further investigation.

DIY'rs If you are attempting this yourself... TURN OFF BREAKER! Before you begin test power is off.
- Bare or green wire is the ground, connect to green screw.
- White wire is your neutral and needs to be connected to the silver screw.
- Black or red wire is your hot/energized wire and needs to be connected to the black or gold screw.
If you require additional amperage, please call a professional. There is more to factor in than the allowable amperage on a device.

Before Hiring an Electrician,
Ask Yourself:
- Do I know what I want?
– Be clear about the problem you’re experiencing or the project you want completed (new installation, repair, upgrade, etc.). The clearer you are, the better an electrician can serve you.
- Am I ready to invest in quality service?
– Electrical work is about safety and reliability. Cutting corners often costs more in the long run. Be prepared to pay for professional service that’s done right the first time.
- Do I understand the value of expertise?
– A skilled electrician brings training, experience, and precision. That’s what keeps your home or business safe and powered for years to come.
